If you aren’t familiar with the platform, it is an easy-to-use source for brand product data that empowers retailers to save time and money, with democratized access to brand product data across the entire run specialty channel – including retailers, brands, and third-party business partners. The PDC will expand its features in stages, with PDC 1.0 allowing retailers to create product collections, download SKU/UPC/image data, and export those files directly into templates formatted for the top POS providers. More features and functionality, including MAP data and e-commerce descriptions, will follow in subsequent updates to the platform.

We’ve spent months ensuring that the interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, and there are some value-added features we’re looking forward to showing off. That will happen at the RIA Summit, where attendees will get to see it first in a one-hour training session. Post Summit, the RIA will offer how-to videos and a series of online training sessions that will allow all members to set up log-in access and get hands-on experience working on the platform. So be on the lookout for an email invitation to the training in early May.

Will the PDC be perfect right out of the gate? Not likely. Our members will probably discover some glitches. But will it be a big step in the right direction? Based on the feedback from beta testers, we’re confident that it will be.

Keep in mind that like any new digital tool, the PDC will be in a continuous development pattern, and it will rely heavily on the feedback of its users. So we invite you to check it out and get familiar with it. Tell us what you think and how we can make it work better for you. We’re looking forward to that process, and appreciate your support as we work to provide the tool you’ve been waiting for.
